Depending on their role and competencies, staff may support with therapeutic engagement, emotional wellbeing, daily living, mental health monitoring, care planning, risk management, medicines management and promoting recovery and independence.
Mental health services can support people with very different needs and levels of risk. We therefore consider the service setting, individual needs, identified risks, required experience, training and competencies when matching staff.
Where required, this may include relevant experience in positive behaviour support, de-escalation, crisis support and complex mental health needs.
Appropriate checks include appropriate criminal-record and barred-list checks for the jurisdiction and role, Right to Work, references, employment history, training, experience and competency assessment, with NMC registration verified for Registered Mental Health Nurses.
